Visiting ZITA
How can I visit you?
You can book you visit for frame fitting or a professional eye examination HERE. Each appointment lasts 90 minutes. It’s only up to you whether you will use up all of your time. During this time our attention will primarily be yours.
Do you do examinations?
Yes. We provide various complex services under one roof: from eye examinations and frame fitting to lens cutting. We have optometrists in our team who will give you a thorough examination as well as practical advice from the heart. You need to set at least 50 minutes aside for a good eye examination. I have booked my appointment. Can I bring someone to help me choose my frames?
Yes, you can. Your appointments automatically include a +1. We’re looking forward to seeing you!
Can two of us come for one appointment?
Yes. During your appointment (90 minutes) we are able to help both of you with choosing frames. When booking, check the box that the two of you will arrive. Please note the name of your companion in the comment box.
Do I need an appointment if I need to have my frames fixed or if I’m coming to pick up my frames?
You don’t. Just stop by anytime during the day and we will take care of you. Both our stores are open from 9am to 7pm and Pradiareň is also open on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.

What kinds of frames do you offer?
At ZITA you will find both prescription glasses as well sunglasses. We are more than happy to help you with the selection of lenses, which we will fit into your frame - whether they are stylish non-prescription, single-focal, bifocal, multifocal or more special lenses. For example, those against blue light or prescription sunglasses.
What eyewear brands do you offer?
We like to brand ourselves as eyewear curators. At ZITA you can find accessible designer frames of high quality. Our favourite manufacturers are mostly from Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, Austria, the UK, Poland and Germany. You can find the complete list in the section where we introduce each of our BRANDS. We try to keep our offer similar in both our stores. You can check the availability of a specific frame at the store directly on the product page.
What kinds of lenses do you fit into your frames?
We work with lenses of the highest quality made by Essilor and Rodenstock.
When will my glasses be ready?
We are full-service opticians with our own machines, which means we can minimize the time needed to deliver your finished glasses. The standard lenses with diopters of +/- 6 can be ready in 5-7 working days. More advanced, made-to-measure lenses will usually take 8-10 working days.
What’s the guarantee for your glasses?
We provide the standard guarantee of 2 years. However, we care about your glasses regardless of when you bought them. If you have any problem, please stop by and we will take a look!
I have a prescription. Can I have my glasses made at your opticians without a previous examination?
Yes, we are happy to help. But remember, our sight likes to develop and change, so it is important that your prescription isn’t older than six months.
Can you make multifocal glasses for me?
We will be happy to! Multifocal glasses are a great choice, especially when you don’t want to switch between distance and reading glasses. Thanks to a gradual shift of diopter in multifocal lenses, you will only need one pair.
Do you also offer contact lenses?
Of course. We cater to your eyes in every way – whether it’s an eye examination, frame fitting or contact lenses. However, the parameters for contact lenses are different to normal lenses, and we need to know your corneal curvature as well as your diopter. That’s why we recommend you come for an eye examination first. Based on the results, we will order trial contact lenses and go through the correct application process together. Contact lens application training with an optometrist costs 40 EUR. Application instruction and training, cleaning, test lenses and lens solutions are included in the price.
If you are interested in an examination focused on contact lenses, contact us at optika@zita.sk, and we will make a special appointment. Appointments in the reservation system are primarily intended for eye examinations and dioptric glasses fittings.
Do you also fit lenses in frames that were not bought at your store?
Yes! We’re happy to fit lenses into to any of your frames, even if they were not bought at our store. The fee is 40 €.
Can you fit lenses in the frame on the same day?
If you urgently need new eyeglass lenses, we can fit them into the frames within 30 minutes at our Pradiareň store. As we do not keep lenses in stock, it is necessary to order them from us first. If you are interested in new lenses, just write to us at optika@zita.sk.
Can I find the same frame brands and prices in both of your optics?
Yes, our portfolio of sun and prescription frames is the same in both our Bratislava stores. You can check the availability of a specific model in Pradiareň or on Živnostenská directly through our website.
Do you collaborate with health insurance companies?
We are not contractual partners with insurance companies, the customer pays the full amount of the examination in our optics. You can try to inquire about the possibility of refunding the examination directly in your health insurance company.
I have a prescription for multifocal glasses. Do I also need an examination appointment in ZITA?
We will be happy to make lenses based on your prescription, but if you have multifocal lenses, we recommend to book an appointment in ZITA too. We will check your diopters, measure the exact correction and centering. With multifocal glasses, we also focus on the right choice of frame, which is important for your best comfort during everyday wear.
About ZITA
Who’s behind ZITA?
Zita is a family business, led by an experienced optician and optometrist Zita Grigarová with her son Daniel Grigar and his wife Katka. The team also consists of experts in the field of visual health and frame selection as well as marketing specialists, business managers and product curators.
Where are you located?
You can find us at Živnostenská 4 in Bratislava (between Kollárovo námestie and Vysoká street) and also on Svätoplukova 2/A in Pradiareň.
What are your opening hours?
We are here for you in both of our stores every workday from 9 am to 7 pm and in Pradiareň also on Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm. On Sunday we are closed.
You can easily book an appointment HERE for a professional eye examination or a frame fitting. If you need your screws tightened, dioptric lenses fitted or your frame refitted, you don’t need an appointment. We are looking forward to your visit.
Are there any parking spots nearby?
Our shop on Živnostenská Street is in the city centre so we are easily accessible by foot or public transport. The closest public transport stops are "Vysoká" and "Kollárovo námestie”. You can also find a few parking spots on Vysoká, Radlinského, or Mariánska Street - this is a city-paid parking called PAAS. You can also park in the nearby parking lots (Tatracentrum, Austria Trend Hotel, Hotel Tatra).
Parking through the PAAS municipal parking lot is also available in the vicinity of our second store on Páričková Street. The Nivy Center offers free parking for 3 hours. Pradiareň is located very close to the bus station and is accessible by public transport (stops "Cvernovka", "Mlynské Nivy" or "Košická").
Can I pay by card?
Sure! We accept all standard credit and debit cards including Visa, MasterCard and Maestro.
Can I buy your frames online?
Our online ZITA offers more than 1200 carefully selected frames, most of which can be immediately shipped to you. If you don’t find a frame at online ZITA, we will gladly confirm its availability upon request.
We would also like to inform you that at online ZITA you can only purchase a frame without dioptric lenses. Proper fitting of the lenses requires exact measurements and data – which can’t be done digitally for now. If you want to choose suitable lenses and have them fitted into a frame, you can visit us at any time in person or turn to your local opticians.
Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, you can choose from three options. You can get a voucher for a professional eye examination and €50 or €100 gift vouchers for the purchase of goods or services. You can get them at both our stores or online HERE. Online you can choose from a physical voucher, which we will ship to you gift-wrapped or its digital version sent to you immediately.
You offer lifelong service. What does that mean?
All the frames purchased at ZITA get lifelong service. It means you can drop by anytime you need the screws tightened of the frame refitted for comfort. Just come over and within a few minutes, your glasses will fit as good as new ones.
If your frame requires more intensive care, we can give it an ultrasonic cleaning or polishing. This can take a while, so it would be better if you leave your frame with us for a day.
Online ZITA
How much of your assortment can I find at online ZITA?
Online ZITA’s selection is almost identical to our opticians‘. You can find a selection of dioptric frames as well as quality sunglasses, useful accessories and gift vouchers. If you don’t find a frame at online ZITA, we will gladly confirm its availability upon request.
Can I order a frame and come to ZITA to try it on?
Not at this moment, unfortunately. Some frames found online might not be found at our stores and vice versa. If a frame caught your eye and you would like to try it on in person, send us an e-mail and we will make an arrangement.
Are there any downsides to buying glasses online that I should know about?
The right frame should be like cut out for your face. It should copy the eyebrow line, sit comfortably on the nose and not touch the cheeks even when you’re smiling. That’s why we always recommend choosing a frame at our opticians, where you can try it on.
If you opt to buy a frame online, pay attention to the individual parameters of the frame – the width of the bridge or the size of the rims which you can compare to your current glasses. If the frame isn’t a fit despite that, you can return it until 30 days from the purchase.
Can I order prescription lenses along with a frame in your e-shop?
Not at the moment. To guarantee clear vision, correct fitting of the prescription lenses requires accurate measurement data – which can’t yet be done digitally in the quality we desire.
If you want to choose the correct lenses and have them fitted in a purchased frame, you can visit us any time at our stores in Živnostenská or in Pradiareň.
What does it mean, when a frame is labelled unavailable? Can you still get it?
We can’t make any promises, but we will do everything in our power to get it! If you are interested in such frame, send us your e-mail address and we will contact you as soon as we check its availability with the manufacturer.
Can I pick up a frame purchased at online ZITA personally at your opticians?
Unfortunately, we don’t offer this service at the moment. Thank you for understanding. :)
How can I pay for my order?
You can use all the standard methods you are used to. You can pay by VISA, Maestro or MasterCard or an online payment by Tatra Banka, Slovenská Sporiteľňa, VÚB banka, UniCredit banka and Poštová banka. You can also use e-wallet services such as GoPay, PayPal, Google Pay and Apple Pay.
Shipping and returns
What can I do if a frame ordered online doesn’t fit, or if I want to return it?
Don’t worry! If your new frame doesn’t fit and you are located within Slovakia or the Czech Republic you can return it within 30 days free of charge. Just fill out the return form, add your unworn glasses and order a courier through DPD website here. Unfortunately, international returns can be only done at your own expense. Do you ship orders to the Czech Republic and other countries?
Of course! We will ship your order anywhere in the world. The postage depends on the weight of the package and the destination and it will be calculated in the final steps of the order confirmation.
Do you have free shipping?
Domestic orders over €105 will receive free postage. See Shipping for more info.
How will the order be delivered?
We ship all of our orders via DPD courier service within 24 hours of their placement. You can follow the adventurous journey of your order on the My ZITA site in My orders section.
ZITA kids
Can you examine the eyesight of my child?
By law, only an ophthalmologist can examine the eyesight of children under the age of 15. However, we will be happy to help your children with the selection of dioptric or sunframes and with choosing the correct lenses! All we need is a prescription not older than half a year.
