See you at Pradiareň!

Kristína & Gaston

“I had glasses, but I never wore them because I didn't like how they looked. I came to ZITA knowing I'd find something — and that they'd help me choose well.”

Kristína first walked through our doors in 2020. Visits to the optician looked a little different back then: masks, restrictions, a strange kind of quiet. Even so, she left with a pair of frames that stayed with her for the next six years.

She returned to ZITA at a moment when she felt it was time to move forward. She arrived at Pradiareň without a clear plan, open to trying things and letting the process unfold. She had no idea that what started as a search for something subtle would end with a playful, colourful frame.

“I suddenly wanted something new. I'm in a bit of a funky phase right now, trying new things, and it naturally pulled me towards ZITA.”

Kristína sees the world through a lens. She's been drawn to photography since high school, going on to study it at university, first in Zlín, then transferring to VŠVU in Bratislava, where she graduated.

After finishing her degree, she worked full-time at an advertising agency. Then a friend sent her a job listing from Mestské lesy Bratislava and she couldn't get it out of her head. Working in the forest with a camera was exactly what she'd always dreamed of.

Today she manages their social media, shoots videos, and creates content straight from the field. You might spot Kristína in the forest park, photographing trees, or patiently waiting for a bird or animal to come into frame.

“Work is my hobby. I feel incredibly lucky to do something I genuinely love and look forward to every single day.”

Kristína found her way to the forest as a child. It's been her safe space ever since, a place she returns to for calm. She goes there to recharge, to move, to sit quietly with a coffee. The quiet of the trees does something for her that nothing else quite does.

When she's not among the trees, she draws, works out, cycles, or crochets. She's drawn to repetitive activities, the kind that let the mind settle. She doesn't seek out adrenaline. She knows what she likes, and she likes to feel at ease.

Lately, she's been experimenting with her style. She stays true to what feels comfortable, but she's slowly giving herself permission to do a little more. Her choice of frames reflects exactly that. The green Saint-Lazare by French brand Gaston is, for Kristína, a stepping stone that opens the door to something a little bolder.

“The choice wasn't easy. I tried a lot of frames and nothing felt quite right. At first it seemed like I'd go with a pink one, but in the end the green won me over. I love that it's colourful and just slightly unconventional. It's not over the top, but it's different. People notice it and recognise ZITA on the street.”
