Daska in Jean Philippe Joly & Gamine

We approached Daska during one of her recent visits to the shop, though we'd been thinking about it for a while. As one of our loyal customers, she comes to ZITA regularly and almost always leaves with an exceptional find.

Glasses are an important fashion accessory for her, which we got to see during the photoshoot when she brought along her entire collection of frames.

For many years, Daska has worked in the energy sector. She started out in HR, but eventually moved to marketing, where she handles communications and organizes events.

Outside work, she gets creative with her wardrobe too. She loves fashion and combining clothes for both everyday and special occasions. Her personality shows through in her choice of glasses, which enhance any outfit and complete her overall look.

"For me, fashion is a way to express who I am. I enjoy different combinations, but I lean most toward elegance with a hint of inventiveness. Through fashion, I can convey my emotions. I like that each of us sees it differently – at least the world around us isn't all the same."

Though Daska has settled in Bratislava, she loves to travel and never misses a vacation in Croatia or Italy. In her free time, she goes on walks in nature and the mountains with her husband, but their shared dream is to see the northern lights.

She's also found a passion for cooking and baking. She's been in the kitchen with her mother since she was little, and by age ten she was cooking on her own with her mom nearby. In time, she proudly made her first proper meal – stuffed meat roulade with mashed potatoes.

Her mother also taught her to use ingredients efficiently. She cooks fairly often, so it's no surprise that her finished dishes are enjoyed not just by family members, but by friends and neighbors too.

Daska's specialty is her mother's bundt cake recipe, which she's refined over time to suit her own taste. Today she bakes the cake for family and friends with occasional small variations – adding rum, walnuts, almonds, or coconut.

"My bundt cake has been known for years for its softness and moistness. Even though I happily share the recipe, no one bakes it quite like I do. I don't know what it is. Even my sister's doesn't turn out the same. Even when people use the exact same ingredients and follow the recipe, the taste is always different. Everyone tells me I should open a bundt cake shop."

After years of loyalty to our shop, Daska has come to love round frames. In her collection you'd find several pairs of sunglasses, though she most often wears a burgundy frame from the American brand Gamine.

On her last visit to Pradiareň, she let us talk her into a bolder piece. She sees the purple frame from French brand Jean Philippe Joly as a piece of jewelry, though she'll wear it for everyday too. The Chanteur model pushes Daska's boundaries and opens up new color possibilities for her.

"It's very dangerous to come to ZITA. I always leave with new glasses."

We asked Daska to share her tried-and-true bundt cake recipe with us. She says it's a total classic, but what makes it special are a few tested tricks – the oil and sugar aren't diluted with water, and you have to beat the egg whites properly. So, get baking!
