Jaro in Gaston frames

What's it like to travel through time? Apparently much like travelling the world. We come back home with a fresh perspective and a clearer mind.

Jaro believes that history serves as a compass in our lives, keeping us from losing our bearings. He makes our rich past accessible in Historická revue, a monthly magazine where he works as editor-in-chief.

Together with a team of experts, he explores every theme – from antiquity to modern times – from several angles at once. This way we can read about the forgotten, less popular, or silenced corners of our history too.

Besides the magazine, Jaro also regularly hosts the Dejiny podcast for Denník Sme. Every week he invites fascinating guests not only from the historical world, but from music and culture as well. We warmly recommend the series Nine Images of Communism, which takes a critical look at our not-so-distant past – one that's mostly overlooked in history textbooks.

"History doesn't always move forward, it sometimes repeats itself. That's why it's important to understand the past and learn from our mistakes."
