The brand's founder, Matthieu Duchêne, was born in South Korea but grew up in Belgium from an early age. He's always been drawn to shapes, materials, and the way things are made – you can see it in his passion for art and architecture. While still a student of industrial design at the prestigious La Cambre school, he fell for the optical craft. But it took a few years working at big optical design studios before he decided to start his own brand, named after himself.

The Belgian brand's workshop sits in the cradle of French optical manufacturing, in the Jura mountains, where versatility is everything. The result of this meticulous work is frames for women and men, sent off to international cities like Paris, Amsterdam, New York, and Tel Aviv.

MATTTEW is all about bold colours and minimalist design. You won't find eccentric shapes here. The designer much prefers clean lines, designed to suit any personality type.

He focuses on smaller collections, always mixing different styles – from classics to modern geometric shapes. Frames are mostly made from titanium, stainless steel, and cellulose acetate. He takes special care choosing colours that highlight your face and give it that extra spark.

The three T's in the name reveal three guiding values – Accessible design-Humour-Service. They also reference the profile of a face and the temple of glasses.
