What's New Under the Sun?
In our optician's, we hold to a philosophy that not every trend is worth following. While self-love might be in fashion, at ZITA we'll always care first about whether the glasses suit you. That said, our shelves aren't short on eye-pleasing shapes and colours that move with the times.

Few people know that the first trendsetters of sunglasses were the Inuit, the indigenous people of Greenland and Northern Canada. Before sunglasses were "worn", they served mainly a protective function. Beyond the Arctic Circle, they shielded against snow blindness, but also against sharp wind and water. These glasses had no lenses – just two narrow slits carved across bone, tied to the face with a leather cord.
Today, thankfully, we have not only quality optical lenses but lighter frames too. Almost anything goes – big, small, colourful, futuristic, and those we'd rather forget. Which trends are enjoying the most love?
Breakfast at Tiffany's
People had breakfast at Tiffany's in large sunglasses, and they still do today. Luxury is becoming minimalist and therefore more accessible. Even with large cat-eye shapes, we're talking about a simple piece that successfully passes the test of time.
Little Black Sunglasses
Today, oversized sun frames are being challenged by oval glasses in smaller shapes – little black ones. They recall the 90s – elegant, polished, and just a touch daring.
Glasses of the Future
You might have noticed a few unusual pieces on our shelves. It's long been untrue that frames are only round. Master craftspeople are bringing us the eyewear of tomorrow.
Fresh Colours
Beyond shapes, trends are advancing in colours and patterns too. This year, unconventional shades of white and cream have earned our attention – a fresh departure from traditional earthy tones.
Sustainable Materials
Most of all, we're excited about trends that think of the future. Sunglasses manufacturers today care not just about looks, but also about the footprint they leave behind. And so they're introducing sustainable materials – recycled and biodegradable acetate, or bioplastic. Pioneers in sustainability include brands like Komono and Proud.
So, have we inspired you for the new season? In our online selection you'll find a colourful range of sun frames. If they don't fit, you can return them to us free of charge within 30 days. And if you'd rather try the gallery of frames in person after all, feel free to drop by our optician's. You can book your visit here.
