Jacques Durand

At ZITA, we've always loved elevating the wearing of glasses into an experience. This time, we dare say we've found something for the most discerning among you. This autumn, a custom-made Italian brand arrived on our shelves – Jacques Durand.

Behind it stands a designer of the same name, who distilled 30 years of industry experience into an exceptional piece of craft. Jacques Durand loved car design, and he carried no small part of that fascination into his frames. His workshop today creates clean, striking glasses without unnecessary ornament. Just as on a car body, here too the material plays with light. Flat front sections emphasize the line of the lenses and give the frame boldness.

Pure acetate, shaped by hand

Frames from the Jacques Durand collection are made exclusively from Mazzucchelli acetate – considered something like the Ferrari among plastics in the optical world. Delicate acetate sheets no thicker than 10 mm are later cut directly in the Italian workshop into comfortable, ergonomic shapes. Temple length and lens width can be customized to order to suit the wearer's needs.

Each model comes in six rich colors. A nice detail is the brand logo – it's not traditionally placed on the inside of the temple, but you'll find it on the lower edge or proudly on top of the lens rim, highlighted in signature orange.

Island names

Individual collections bear the names of islands – sets of Caribbean, Japanese, or Spanish archipelagos. Touch world-class Italian craft in person. Jacques Durand frames are available exclusively at our optician's. Book your appointment here.
