As our daily habits shift, so do our needs. Today, it's not enough to simply see through lenses – we want to care for our vision and give it the highest level of comfort.
Just a few years back, an ophthalmic lens offered only a basic anti-reflective coating. Today's standard is at least seven layers of anti-reflective treatment, quality hardening against scratches, and layers that repel oil, water, and dust. Another increasingly popular option at ZITA is a filter that blocks blue-violet light. This represents a huge leap not just in durability and practicality, but in optical clarity too.
Since we're used to satisfying even the most demanding customer at ZITA, we often reach for lenses that don't just brighten your view – they optimize it. Popular single-vision lenses do have one drawback, though. They contain only one central point, which the optician centers directly on the wearer's pupil. In the digital age, specialized centering for distance alone may not be enough. When working with a computer or phone, our line of sight naturally shifts downward, so we're not using just the center of the lens. In our experience, this deviation is particularly uncomfortable for more sensitive wearers with stronger prescriptions.
Fortunately, lenses that account for this shift in your line of sight are now available. The lens corridor is specially designed to make viewing at intermediate distances more comfortable, even when you have distance prescriptions. These lenses also reduce aberrations and are made from a material that absorbs blue-violet light. There's no need to apply a separate surface treatment, which eliminates unwanted purple reflections.
